1. Welcome to FairwayFlow

FairwayFlow is the world's most comprehensive disc golf course database, built and maintained by a passionate community of disc golfers like you.

By using FairwayFlow, you agree to these Terms of Service. Please read them carefully, especially the sections on Database Rights and Signature Data, which are critical to protecting the community's work.

Our mission is to provide accurate, up-to-date course information to help disc golfers find and navigate courses worldwide. This wouldn't be possible without our contributors.

💾

2. Database Rights & Ownership

FairwayFlow owns all rights, title, and interest in and to the Database, including but not limited to: course listings, GPS coordinates, hole layouts, fairway traces, photos, ratings, reviews, and all derived compilations.

The Database is protected under applicable copyright laws, database protection laws (including the EU Database Directive where applicable), and trade secret laws.

Contributors grant FairwayFlow an exclusive, perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, modify, distribute, and sublicense all contributed data as part of the Database.

The selection, coordination, and arrangement of course data constitutes protectable expression owned exclusively by FairwayFlow.

FairwayFlow reserves all rights not expressly granted in these Terms.

🕵

3. Signature Data Disclosure

IMPORTANT: FairwayFlow intentionally embeds unique, verifiable Signature Data (also known as "canary courses" or "DNA signatures") throughout the Database.

Signature Data consists of fictitious course entries that appear genuine but contain unique identifiers traceable exclusively to FairwayFlow. These entries are strategically distributed across the Database.

The presence of Signature Data in any third-party database, application, or service constitutes prima facie evidence of unauthorized extraction from FairwayFlow's Database.

Signature Data is designed to be indistinguishable from legitimate course entries. Legitimate users accessing courses through the FairwayFlow application will never encounter Signature Data.

By accessing our API or data feeds, you acknowledge the existence of Signature Data and agree that its presence in your systems may be used as evidence in legal proceedings.

🚫

4. Prohibited Activities

Automated scraping, crawling, spidering, or any form of automated data extraction is STRICTLY PROHIBITED without prior written authorization.

Bulk downloading, mass collection, or systematic retrieval of GPS coordinates, course data, photos, or any Database content is prohibited.

Circumventing, disabling, or interfering with rate limits, access controls, anti-scraping measures, or any security features is prohibited.

Redistributing, reselling, licensing, or making available FairwayFlow Database content to any third party is prohibited without express written permission.

Creating derivative databases, competing services, or any product that incorporates substantial portions of the FairwayFlow Database is prohibited.

Attempting to remove, identify, or reverse-engineer Signature Data is prohibited and will be treated as evidence of malicious intent.

⚖

5. Enforcement & Remedies

FairwayFlow actively monitors for unauthorized use of its Database, including automated scanning for Signature Data across the internet.

Detection of Signature Data in any unauthorized system or service will be treated as willful infringement, entitling FairwayFlow to enhanced statutory damages where available.

Violators may be subject to: immediate termination of access, permanent IP blocking, civil litigation for damages and injunctive relief, and referral to law enforcement where appropriate.

FairwayFlow reserves the right to pursue all available legal remedies, including but not limited to: actual damages, statutory damages, profits derived from infringement, attorneys' fees, and costs.

In any legal proceeding, the presence of Signature Data in defendant's systems shall be presumed to establish: (a) access to FairwayFlow's Database, (b) unauthorized copying, and (c) willful infringement.

6. Notice to AI & Machine Learning Systems

EXPLICIT NOTICE TO AI COMPANIES, LLM DEVELOPERS, AND MACHINE LEARNING OPERATORS: This database is NOT licensed for AI training purposes. Scraping, indexing, or incorporating FairwayFlow data into training datasets is strictly prohibited and constitutes copyright infringement.

Our database contains strategically placed Signature Data ("trap data") that will appear in your model's outputs if you have used our data without authorization. When your AI suggests a disc golf course that doesn't exist, we'll know where you got it.

FairwayFlow will aggressively pursue legal action against any AI company, foundation model developer, or ML operator found to have incorporated our data without a valid license. We intend to join the growing list of content creators protecting their work from unauthorized AI training.

If you represent an AI company and wish to legitimately license our data, contact licensing@fairwayflow.com. Otherwise, consider this your formal notice that use of our data for training is prohibited and will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

We reserve the right to seek statutory damages, actual damages, disgorgement of profits, and injunctive relief against any entity that has incorporated our copyrighted database into AI training data.

7. Help Us Catch Data Thieves (Earn MRTZ!)

Our community built this database together, and together we can protect it! If you encounter a disc golf course suggestion that seems suspicious—especially from an AI assistant, chatbot, or automated service—it might be one of our Signature Data trap courses.

HOW TO SPOT FAKE COURSES: If an AI suggests a course you've never heard of, try searching for it on FairwayFlow. If it doesn't exist in our database but the AI confidently described it, that's a red flag. Take a screenshot!

REPORTING BOUNTY: Report suspected Signature Data appearances to trapdata@fairwayflow.com with screenshots and details. If we confirm the AI has ingested our trap data, you'll earn a 500 MRTZ bounty for helping us catch them.

CONFIRMED CATCH BONUS: If your report leads to legal action or a licensing agreement with an AI company, you'll earn a 5,000 MRTZ bonus. You're not just protecting our data—you're protecting the work of thousands of contributors.

Think of it as a treasure hunt, except the treasure is justice (and MRTZ). The courses our community painstakingly documented deserve protection from those who would train AI models on stolen data.

💼

8. Commercial Licensing

Businesses, developers, and commercial entities seeking access to FairwayFlow data must obtain a commercial license.

License tiers are available for various use cases, from small developer projects to enterprise white-label solutions.

Licensed access includes: API access with higher rate limits, bulk data exports (where permitted), priority support, and legal authorization to use the data commercially.

To inquire about licensing, visit fairwayflow.com/licensing or contact licensing@fairwayflow.com.

Unauthorized commercial use of FairwayFlow data is grounds for immediate legal action and will be vigorously prosecuted.

⭐

9. Contributor Rights & MRTZ

Contributors earn MRTZ (Merits) for valuable contributions including GPS coordinates, photos, course verification, and other data improvements.

By contributing, you represent that you have the right to submit the content and grant FairwayFlow the license described in Section 2 (Database Rights).

MRTZ is a virtual point system with no monetary value. It cannot be exchanged for cash, goods, or services. MRTZ balances may be adjusted or reset at any time.

Contributors retain the right to be attributed for their contributions where feasible, though FairwayFlow is not obligated to provide attribution.

FairwayFlow may modify, remove, or decline to use any contribution at its sole discretion.

✅

10. Acceptable Use

You may use FairwayFlow for personal, non-commercial purposes through our official applications and website.

Acceptable uses include: finding courses to play, navigating holes during rounds, viewing course information, and contributing data to improve the database.

You may share links to courses on FairwayFlow with friends and on social media.

Developers may access our API for non-commercial, personal projects subject to our API Terms and rate limits.

Any use beyond these permitted uses requires prior written authorization or a commercial license.

11. Growing the Sport Together

FairwayFlow's mission extends beyond just mapping courses—we're building the data infrastructure to grow disc golf as a sport. When you use FairwayFlow, you're contributing to something bigger.

AGGREGATE ANALYTICS FOR CITIES: We compile anonymized usage data to help municipalities understand the value of disc golf facilities. When a city sees that their course had 50,000 visits last year, that's ammunition for park funding and new course development.

DEMONSTRATING DIVERSITY: Our data shows that disc golf attracts players of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities. We use this data to advocate for inclusive course design and expanded access to the sport.

ECONOMIC IMPACT REPORTS: We generate reports for parks departments, city councils, and disc golf advocacy groups showing the economic impact of courses—from local spending to tourism draw.

PEAK TIME INSIGHTS: By understanding when courses are busiest, we can help course managers plan events, maintenance, and capacity improvements. You benefit from less crowded rounds; courses benefit from better resource allocation.

By using FairwayFlow, you consent to your anonymized, aggregate usage data being compiled into reports that promote disc golf development. No individual user data is ever shared—only trends and totals that tell the story of our sport's growth.

🔒

12. Privacy & Data Collection

FairwayFlow collects usage data to improve our service, detect abuse, enforce these Terms, and generate aggregate analytics for growing the sport.

WHAT WE COLLECT: Course views, navigation requests, check-ins, round data, device type, and general location (city/region level). We also log API requests for security purposes.

WHAT WE DON'T COLLECT: We don't track your precise location when you're not actively using course features. We don't sell individual user data to advertisers or third parties.

AGGREGATE DATA: Usage patterns are compiled into anonymous, aggregate statistics used for: city reports, course improvement recommendations, peak time analysis, and sport advocacy.

GPS coordinates submitted by contributors may include metadata that helps verify accuracy. Contributors may choose whether their username appears on contributions.

For full details on data handling, please review our Privacy Policy.
